Fabricates and repairs injection molding dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges and hand tools

• Under the direction of the Tooling Manager repairs and maintains injection molds
• Examines form and texture of plastic parts to detect imperfections on Class A surfaces
• Dismantles dies to access and repair tools
• Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate plastic parts
• Lifts dies with overhead cranes
• Verifies dimensions, alignments and clearances
• Connects writing and hydraulic lines to install electrical and hydraulic components
• Examines tools and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of the part
• Knowledge of hydraulics and electrical troubleshooting
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on injection molds
• Work with production to identify issues
• Repair and/or modify injection molds
• Ensure all safety requirements are designed into the projects and prints
• Ensures housekeeping and Health & Safety Standards are maintained
• Complies with policies and procedures pertaining to facility or divisional adopted standards
• Utilizes the concepts of continuous improvement and cost reduction in the execution of the job function

• High School Diploma/GED required
• 5 years tooling experience minimum preferred
• Journeyman's card preferred
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Shift work required
• Proficient using overhead mono-rail and bridge cranes
• Repairs on injection molds
• Various welding techniques
• Proficient using milling machine
• Proficient using a Lath
• Proficient in various levels of polishing to SPA1/SPA2 surfaces
• Proficient in cleaning molds
• Proficient in identifying and repairing tooling issues (ejector pins, vents, etc.)
• Tier 1 automotive preferred
• Should know how to read blueprint and specifications with knowledge
• Strong root cause analysis experience desired
• Measurement equipment including but not limited to CMM, micrometer, Calipers, vision systems experience
• Stand for a minimum of 8 hours per shift
• Lift 20 pounds with arms and hands
