Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

Supervises and coordinates activities of hourly workers in Shipping and Receiving.
- Create BOLs and issue ASNs
- Complete required paperwork in a timely fashion.
- Create Pick Lists for Hi-lo Drivers
- Label all incoming material.
- Check that materials are put away according to the floor layout.
- Maintain clean office, shipping dock and outside storage areas.
- Maintain good rapport with customer and dispatch.
- Request additional trucking from logistics companies as needed.
- Support department with coverage, including overtime as needed with little or no notice.
- Cycle counting products as needed.
- Maintain a safe work environment while complying with the departmental procedures regarding environmental protection.
- Must be able to follow and maintain 5S and organizational layouts.
- Exercises direct supervision over associates with respect to safety, efficiency and quality of work.
- Trains existing and new employees on how to properly perform their work duties.
- Helps to foster an environment of teamwork and cooperation.
- Develops, implements, monitors and enforces standardized work.
- Works toward continuous improvement to meet company goals.
- Maintains & improves 5-S Standards.
- Insures labor is scheduled to support internal and external customer requirements.
- Completes hourly associate reviews.
- Initiates paper work for disciplinary action as needed.
- Helps investigate injuries, accidents, or near misses throughout the plant and provides detailed documentation to Human Resources, EHS, Shipping and Receiving Manager and/or Materials Manager.
- Addresses safety issues immediately with Shipping and Receiving Manager, Materials Manager, Human Resources and/or EHS.
- Responds to environmental incidents to the extent of their training.
- Follows ISO14001 guidelines as they relate to specific job activities.
- As required, communicates with customers who contact the plant.
- As required, creates shipping paperwork and sends ASN.
- Reviews data to determine down time causes and puts corrective action in place by using problem solving techniques.
- Assists Shipping and Receiving Manager and Materials Manager in responding to corrective actions from customer complaints by leading problem solving teams.
- Works with management to attain department and company goals.
- Performs other responsibilities as directed/assigned by supervisor or upper management.
- Must have 2-5 years of related experience
- GED Required, additional education preferred
- Able to operate a hi-lo/fork-lift
- Willing to work overtime
- Willingness to learn and grow
- Able to perform in a high-paced environment
- Leadership experience
- Strong Computer Skills
- CDL Certified for spotting trailers
