Works independently to construct, repair, or layout tools gauges, jigs or dies for use within the plant.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reads and interprets engineered drawings, and specifications of tools dies, prototypes or models
Prepares templates or sketches to determine work processes
Positions, measures and secures castings for machining
Sets up and operates CNC machines to cut, bore, grind mill or otherwise shape pieces to correct dimensions
Uses hand tools and operates other equipment such as lathes, grinders, drill presses, etc.
Cleans checks and lubricates machines as assigned
Repairs equipment per blueprints and dimensions
May heat treat parts to ensure conformity to tolerances and specifications
Verifies precise measurements using CMM, micrometers, Vernier calipers and electronic measuring devices
Responsible for maintaining ISO/TS16949:2002 compliance within the tooling discipline.
Responsible for maintaining ISO14001:2004 compliance with the tooling discipline.
Responsible for maintaining OSHA compliance

QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Must have 3 yrs, of experience Must have computer experience Has the responsibility to aid in the provision of a safe and clean work environment. This will be accomplished by participating in the safety process. Examples of participation would include, but not limited to conducting internal safety audits, investigation of accidents and communication of safety related information.
